Adult Classes at Iowa Branch

Adult classes meet every Sunday, Tuesday, and Thursday. Classes start with a light warm-up and stretching session. Students then line up to hear announcements and to rectite Shorinji Kempo's meditation (seiku), oath (seigan), and creed (shinjo).

After the announcements, students practice goho techniques, such as punches, kicks, and blocks, and juho techniques, such as escapes and joint locks. Additionally, students will practice forms, embu (pre-arranged sparring), and randori (sparring).

Students new to Shorinji Kempo, or martial arts in general, are welcome to give it a try - the first class is free. Although students normally wear a gi (uniform), new students may wear comfortable workout clothes.

The cost for classes at Iowa Branch are $40 per month, and there are no contracts.
